Renard, Macario and Henry headline Olympique Lyonnais squad to feature at Women's ICC Tournament

Reigning Women’s ICC champion Olympique Lyonnais is back to defend its title, and also set to serve notice that it is still the best team in the world.
The French powerhouse will arrive in Portland with a stacked squad for the 2021 Women’s ICC Tournament, set to defend the title it won in 2019.
Led by captain Wendie Renard, Olympique Lyonnais will take on Barcelona in the opening match of the tournament in a battle of the current and former UEFA Champions League title-holders. Olympique Lyonnais had won five consecutive Champions League titles before having that streak halted in the spring in a quarterfinal defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Renard leads a defense that will also feature Australian Olympic standout Ellie Carpenter, and new goalkeeper Christiane Endler, who joins Olympique Lyonnais from Paris Saint-Germain, which she helped lead to the French League title last season.
Also joining the defense from PSG is French national team left back Perle Morroni.
In attack, veteran French midfielder Amandine Henry is also back to lead the midfield while Macario is expected to take on a more prominent role, especially after Dzsenifer Marozsán and Eugénie Le Sommer were sent on loan to sister club OL Reign in the NWSL.
Another top newcomer to watch is Dutch standout Daniëlle Van De Donk, who arrives from Arsenal, , while newly-acquired Signe Bruun joins from PSG.
French national team forward bDelphine Cascarino is another standout to watch in the Olympique Lyonnais attack, as is French national team midfielder Amel Majri, who back after her 10-goal campaign last season and is expected to feature more in attack rather than left back with the arrival of Morroni.
