It was a Spanish Clasico for the ages. Lionel Messi's goal in the final moments of injury time gave FC Barcelona a 3-2 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.

It was a vibrant affair that pushed Barcelona to the top of the Spanish table thanks to goal differential, however Real Madrid has a game in hand.

Real Madrid opened the scoring with a goal from Casemiro in the 28th minute however the lead was short-lived as Messi slotted home his first goal of the match only five minutes later.

Barcelona looked set to take the three points after Ivan Rakitic gave the Catalan club the lead in the 73rd minute with a brilliant left foot shot from just outside the area. However substitute James Rodriguez scored in the 85th minute off a precise cross from Marcelo.

Messi's goal was his 500th goal in a Barcelona uniform.

The two teams will next meet on July 29 in El Clasico Miami as part of the 2017 International Champions Cup Presented by Heineken.
